Founded by Steve and Laura Alfino in 2002, Round- Up HOPE is Temecula Valleys therapeutic horse back riding equestrian
center for the disabled serving Southern California’s Inland Empire. Round Up HOPE is a 501©(3) non-profit corporation,
Laura Alfino, named Horsewomen of the year in 1982, suffered from a debilitating injury leaving her unable to walk. Not only did
Laura's doctors tell her she may be unable to walk unassisted but never again to ride a horse. Laura was bed ridden for almost
two years. Eventually, with the support of her family, therapeutic horseback riding and physical therapy Laura is able to walk and
ride again. Witnessing the miracles therapeutic horseback riding had done for Laura, the Alfino family vowed to share this gift
with all they could.
Our mission is dedicated to improving the lives of children, adolescents and adults with a wide range of physical, cognitive
and/or emotional disabilities as well as the underprivileged and their families. In partnership with our rescue horses, Round-Up
HOPE nurtures the mind body and soul with therapy that can be life changing. The types of disabilities and conditions served
include but are not limited to: Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Emotional Challenges, Learning Disabilities, Muscular
Dystrophy Spina Bifida, Spinal Cord Injuries, Visual Impairments, Cancer Patients and the Chronically ill.
Extra Special Service for Our Families:
As the program began to grow, Laura could not help but notice the dedication and huge sacrifices the siblings and parents
were making for their loved one. She felt an overwhelming need to offer the same type of therapy to these families and has
opened a non-disabled riding program. This has enabled the family to be joined as one in a therapeutic setting. Rather than to
isolate the disabled child Laura has incorporated the family for fun and a lifetime of memories.
